They don't clip anything in the Queets system. Chances are that it was actually a hatchery fish. There are no mis-clips in there.
I am not haunted, just overcrowded. Therefore i disdain anything that could possibly draw or remind folks of the mediocre fishing out here. I like people as individuals but loath them in a mob. and its gear and fly rags both. I mean i could write an article on chetco kings and I've never even fished them, buy I've seen enough articles on the covers of fishing rags at the quickly Mart. Point is all the stories have been run twenty times. Nothing new, just more pressure. Its just a place for slick ads. Enjoy, but enjoy quietly. Furthermore i don't roll around stone faced, stoned perhaps, but One thing for certain is i am happy as anyone to fish and share on an individual basis.
Sop, I can understand where you're coming from. I think one important thing to keep in mind is that the audience is just as important a part of the equation. If I lived out there, I would probably be a little frustrated too by the crowding. I think some of the blame goes on magazines publishing hot-spot articles, but a lot of the problem lies in the fact that all the PS rivers are closed right now! Where else are people supposed to go fish? If I didn't have a girlfriend and some other responsibilities that hold me back, I have to admit I would be out there every weekend. The thing is, I won't be out there with a go-pro and copy of Flyfisherman magazine as my only source of info on the rivers. You would find me in my Vanagon, Delorme open on the steering wheel, avoiding potholes on some dirt road or hiking up a trail at the end of the road. I think to an extent, you can't blame the magazines for the fact that people are just downright lazy. The thing I like about the Drake (and Flyfish Journal), if I may, is that Rose's story wasn't accompanied by maps, regulations, gps points of put ins, etc, etc. In fact, the biggest thing I took from that article was stopping in at the store in Forks to take a look at the painting of Wentworth's fish. I already knew what rivers to fish, because I talk to people, pore over maps, read between the lines in books. If we appreciate writers like Rose, McGuane, and Combs (all of whom were featured in the last Drake), then I think it's important to have a magazine like that which will help support them in their craft. Without it, we aren't going to be able to read the writing of these kinds of guys, at least not in print form. Just some thoughts. Not saying you have to agree, but I think there are positives to the issue as well.
Hey fuck you I love my Go Pro. Gadgets are cool. Sorry you nubs can't catch fish unless you're alone in a stocker pond. Tough fucking shit. You should take up trap shooting or something. Except for the beginning (you know before the left turn at the all night diner), this thread is almost complete BS. Shit talking a dude with cancer? Nice. And I am driving from Walla Walla to fish the OP shortly, so grease up the boat bumpers in the hog line...my fat ass is squeezing in line. (*Walks back to house, knowing the Troll will be well fed tonight*)
David.. that's going to cause some poor internet junkie to be using tears for lube while they are "roughing up the suspect".. good luck on the trip though!
Well here is hoping the smily and the secret code at the bottom of the message keeps them from wringing the chickens neck TOO hard.
Whens the big showdown going to happen? we could sell tickets and donate the money to the American Cancer Society!!!!
Is this PfluergerPhister or GHFS Eric coming out with that threat? Just wondering with your multiple personalities on this site and trolls.
This is quite possibly the single WORST thread I have EVER read on these forums. Stupid insults, public invitations to fight on a gravel bar, and nonsensical statements left and right plagued by poor grammar that make it difficult to understand. Jesus Christmas! If I didn't know better I'd think english was a second language for at least 1/4 of the people that have participated in this fiasco. If you're going to insult people and publicly call them out the least you can do is string together six words with proper punctuation so it makes sense. All of you internet tough guys could stand to pick up a book from time to time. Gain some civility and some perspective folks!
Those numbers represent wild fish escapement and are not to be confused with total run size. The numbers for total run size are larger. Information like this is freely available from WDFW. It takes a little digging on their website but it is there.
Help solve the overcrowding on the OP... open up the Skagit... send in the GoPro crowds to film those epic C&R battles.... and it's very possible the numbers will be: 2044 - Escapement = 357 2045 - Escapement = Steelhead on the Endangered Species List (thanks for playing, now go home) But, at least we'll have satisfied our narcissistic personal need to fish, film and post them. The following generations can find their own species to pillage.
Look i think this thread could have redeeming quality after all. It is true the op became more crowded with the closure of the cascade rivers. It was instant. If the numbers being posted here are accurate then a movement may be in order to open these rivers to c and r. Do i blame people for coming out and fishing here. No. Would i drive there to fish if the situation is reversed. Yes. I just wanna fish and why would anyone else be any different. we all want the same thing. A river with fish in it to fish over who wouldn't. David i look forward to reliving all the sweet action u collect. Hope u get into them. Are you a head mount guy or do u like it on your chest? Furthermore, don't think anyone here wishes Doug anything but the best He is a solid man that has done allot of good and i hope things go his way. Out of respect for him and his work i think he should be left out of any shenanigans and bs that take place in a thread like this. Jeremy I'm not the one with 2300 posts..
