He got out Thursday. I'm not sure if his home made it.

I was over this week but returned home on Thursday. Took all my frozen and refer stuff home as I knew the power would be out a while. We watched across the valley as the fire consumed the area behind the golf course. Thursday the wind really picked up in a down valley direction and just blew the fire down toward Methow and Pateros. It was so hot over there (over 100 all week) and I could just imagine how hard this fire is to fight with the heat and wind! Those fire fighters are really earning their overtime! Everyone should go to the link Freestone provided and donate as you can to the fund for "Methow" who lost his house and just about everything else. I'm really worried about Leaf and hope his house made it! Such a tragedy in so many ways! Rick

Just spoke to a friend in the area who said cell service (verizon) was out... tried calling Leaf but it went immediately to his voice mail. I hope he and his family are okay... prayers for everyone there.

Trip - I was afraid of that. Let me know what they really need at this point. I will do whatever I can for them, and others.

Thanks for the info, as bad as it it...

With it being so hot over there, if you get rain you will probably also get lightening. And probably more fires.

Still 0% contained. I found out this morning that Ned's place burnt too. If you have ever seen the wine barrel house, you know what a loss it is.

I have seen that house and figured that it was toast. Hoping that this is all over soon.

We just returned from Montana on Saturday. The smoke started around Deer Lodge and it was like driving at dusk until we hit Moses Lake. We had been off grid so to speak for the last few days and had not heard about the fires until getting some news reports on the radio in Missoula. Sorry to hear about those affected... from the sounds of it, a relatively small event really exploded quickly.

Evacuating again! A new fire is burning what's left between Twisp and Winthrop, toward Twin Lakes.

We were thinking about a camping trip in a few weeks over in that area, but the last thing that they need now is a few more tourist.guess we'll wait until the late fall and go grouse hunting & camping then.

I was afraid this might happen when the emergency weather alert came across my radio yesterday eve. Vibes to the area again.
When the rain hits the acidic runoff will have some nasty effects on the fish population.

We had t-storms go by yesterday and they were as dry as a popcorn fart... not exactly what is needed there presently. I've not heard, but suspect lots of crops are also being lost? To those living there... be safe.
