Made it out to Pass Monday night and fished from around 6:40 pm to 11:30. I ended up landing 8 bows all in the 16" range. 4 came under an indicator before it got to dark, the other four came to a stripped leech after dark. One of those came out in the middle deep and the other three came by casting in close to cover and stripping out. I broke two others off and missed both a couple of take unders and stripped takes.

I didn't make it out to Cranberry until 1:00 and had to clear off the lake by 4:30, but I did manage to land 5 in that time 4 were around 12" and one pushed 15". 3 came under an indicator to a red bomber mid in about 11' of water, I had motored around the lake checking depths when I noticed a few of the mids popping so I anchored up and managed 2 quickly and the third came after some time. Then I moved around again and found a 20' deep bowl that quickly came up to 10' feet on one side, and 15' on the other side. After some careful anchoring I managed to position my boat so I could cast right into the deepest part. As soon as my flies made it to depth, indicator down. Then the call came from the wife to make it back to camp to help with dinner. Time for one more cast, same result. Good end for the day.

I did afterward, she was grateful. Yeah, the camera thing, I just don't think about it, and I'm not a personal fan of looking back at fish in nets when I fish by myself. Maybe next time.

Nice work after dark! I'm still jealous it wasn't a school night for you. Guess I can't cry, I seem to remember another day when you had to drive off while I stayed on the bite

I seem to recall more then one night where that happened. Having the mother in law as close as she is to pass is both a blessing and a curse. I can fish the lake more often, but my timing on the lake is dependent more now on my families schedule.

Ford keep me posted on when you might hit it again in the evening and I'll see if I can join you.

About 10 years ago there was a group of regulars that fished Pass at night during the summer, targeting browns. Post a message or ping me next time you are going...

See any river otters in the dark?

Pass browns don't like me much, I went on an 80 plus fish run at Pass this year without touching a brown. In fact I helped a newbie out there at one point who hadn't touched a fish all day. Once I had him set at the right depth and with good flies he immediately hooked and landed a nice 18" brown right next to me. I proceeded to catch bow after bow that day, poor poor me.

I know Cranberry has the browns as well, but all bows there as well.

This was the first time I had fished either lake this late into the summer, and the latest I believe I had ever fished Pass into the evening. The water at Pass was about 69 degrees, but at Cranberry it was up to 75.

If I hadn't, she just would have yelled from the camp ground.
