I have seen posts here and other places about guys 'pimping' their medalist reels. Usually consists of some new parts from One Pfoot, or somewhere else. I decided to give it a whirl, so here is my 'Pimped' Medalist. I disassembled it down to each individual part. Then stripped the black paint, polished the aluminum and anodized green and gold. Made new sculpted brass pillars and round brass line guide. The foot was originally nickel plated brass, so I stripped the nickel plating off to bare brass. What do you think? Is there a market for this service, I could do many different colors and combinations.
I have an old Pflueger 1774 that I would love to have stripped, polished and laquered. They are made of aluminum and brass and look awesome when done this way. The frame is brass and the spool is aluminum and it has a great contrast. I have seen one other which sold on ebay. Here is the listing. This thing looks sweet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pflueger-Pr...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
