    Places with Hellish names:

The thread on the guy getting lost at lower sunset lake has a map link, and nearby there is a Hellhole Lake.

I recall a Hellhole Canyon in Anza-Borrego Park in San Diego Canyon.

    and

Hell for Sure Lake and the corresponding pass in the Sierra Nevada

    and

Hell Roaring Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho,

    and of course there is

Hell's Canyon on the Snake River.

Know any other place names like this?

Up in the Okanogan while deer hunting west of Loomis, there is 'Skull and Crossbones' ridge - for some reason I have made that drive twice, but never again.

Devils Punchbowl was the main attraction on my first Sierra backpack. Caught some nice brook trout in the lake immediately above Devil's punch bowl.

Hell Creek (near Jordan, MT) & Hell's Gate (which was along the Clark Fork near where modern day Frenchtown, MT is located.). Bloody Dick Creek was actually named after a Brit who lived there in the 1860's. Hell Roaring Gulch near Butte, MT. Colter's Hell which was the original name for a thermal area along the Shoshone River in WY & was coined by the mountain man John Colter in the early 1800's.

One year, someone painted over the "P" on westbound I-84 sign for the rest stop. Even my mother, who was straight-laced and never swore, thought it was funny.

I doubt if I'll ever fish Murderer's Creek in Eastern Oregon. I figure it's a warning as much as a name. If you're killed there, the authorities can always claim that you were warned. So I heed the warning.

BTW: it is Big Feet... not Big Foot. At least the one's I've seen have two large feet and not just one :)
