    Poem On The Bridge
    by
    Robert J. Lawless

Standing in the whispy mist of morning,
I look down from the bridge,
Bursting with joy because of just being,
Not wanting to think nor to feel,
But just suck in the beauty all around me,
Reveling in my being here now,
Alive, and full of hope for me and others.

    Something rises in the water.
What? A fish? A duck or some other denizen?
    No, it's just a friend,
    Defining my dreams.
An old and very dear friend,
    It is the river.
