Going to be in Carmel/Big Sur for a long weekend getaway. Anyone know of any rivers/lakes to fish while I'm there?

    Thanks.

I'm in Santa Cruz (about an hour from Carmel), and I think your best bet for a river is the Salinas River, although I don't know what's in there for fish. Alot of guys do surf casting for rockfish etc. If you wanted to give striped bass a shot you could try the San Luis Reservoir. Do you have a float tube, or are you casting from shore? Either way, good luck.

I had my best day for surf perch at the South end of Carmel beach. Many doubles that day, really fun style of fishing.

I'd recommend getting a rental kayak and fishing the kelp beds just offshore there
