alot of you may have already read this book but i had not heard of it before. it is called "a river lost" by Blaine Harden. got it from an environmental history class when i was in college. read parts of it per class requirements but i just got done reading the whole thing and i highly recommend this book. great insight to this regions history, and from a reasonable point of view. this book is obviously aimed at environmental awareness but he is not beligerent and it is entertaining. it covers dams, salmon, river users, politics, hanford, the water project, energy etc. on each issue he interviews a member from each side of the debate. it is the history of the columbia basin from just before the new deal to date(ok,to 1996 when it was written). a must read for any PNW environmentalist IMO. -ryan
