Ethan G. I do science.. on fish..

Most people use a 6 wt. with anodized hardware for saltwater to be able to punch through wind better. As for special reels, just make sure you rinse it off every time you use it, even better would be to get a corrosion-resistant anodized reel. A lot of people use a lot of different lines. A full float will get you into plenty of fish. I usually use an intermediate Airflo 40+ shooting head to get some extra distance when I need it.

Do a search on the forum, you'll find plenty of good reading on the subject.

5 to 7 weight is the norm.
Floater and intermediate are the common lines.
For reels just make sure to read mfg'ers instructions regarding SW use.
    Stripping basket is highly recommended.
Be prepared to deal with the salad.
