I built this rod for my brothers birthday. The reel seat is stabilized paper birch burl. The grip I turned from a mixture of burl, burnt and bleeched cork. I used Alps guides and Fishhawk varigated thread. I kept this build simple with no thread or feather inlays. My brother is up chasing steel head this weekend with it. Mike
