Anyone ever use this? I'm looking for alternatives to building up glossy heads on streamers (currently using multiple coats of Hard as Nails) and this looks interesting.

3 coats of SHHAN (probably one more to go)

Any idea what the "UV" aspect is? More impervious to UV discoloration/breakdown? I'm not really thinking that would be a problem with most flies, but I guess it can't hurt.

I'd gone away form SHHAN in favor of the UV-cure products, but since they all still need a coating to be tac-free, I'm not as enamored as I thought I'd be. I recently picked some SHHAN and plan on giving it a whirl again, though I'm guessing the multiple coats might make it a wash compared to the UV stuff. At least it's cheap.

    tkww,
Have you tried board member Silvercreek's UV resin?
I had the same issues with other UV products not being tack free. Since I purchased his product and light tackiness hasn't been an issue and there is no need to coat them with SHHAN.

3 coats must be enough. That's the way many pro-tyers do the head.
You can also use the UV Resin but for the heads I like the old traditional style: 3 coats of varnish gives IMO the best result.

Application with UV Resin and finish with a coat varnish gives you also a glossy head. Speeds up the drying process but....
The dilemma is you have to make a choice :)

The head in the picture looks very nice so why overdress it?

There's always black colored auto touch up paint... that stuff dries pretty danged shiny with one application.

I was just looking to save a little time, but if I'm not mass producing them, I guess I can live with doing 3 coats/fly.

    I'll give that a try
