I am thinking about getting a Scott STS 12wt. I have heard that they are great casting rods but I am slightly concerned about breakage. I have been using an S3 9'6" 8wt for a few years now, and although I love this rod to death, it has broken twice in the tip ferrule. One time this was due to operator error (trying to land a steelhead in too tight of quarters), but I am confident that my E2 1008 would have held together, and the other I have no idea. It seems that the STS might be the last internal ferrule large rod that they will make. I have heard that the X2S is a bit slower and the rods that I have casted don't seem to be powerful enough. Will the internal ferrule of the STS hold up or is the sleeve ferrule of the X2S preferable? If you have any opinions or experience that would be great.

    thank you
