Decided to hit our beach, on Camano Island, this morning right at the tide change, glad I did. One 18.5" and another about 14", no pics though. The resident Bald Eagle was watching from it's perch in the tall trees at the top of the cliff, and swooped down after my 2nd fish, I had to wave him off about 20ft out and closing!
Great morning all around, plan to do it again tomorrow, might even take a camera this time.

Congrats on a great morning. SRC 2, Eagles 0. Sounds like a Mariners game.

Nice work, especially on the 18.5" slab.

Awesome report. Is SRC fishing slow this time of year? I will be in town and was thinking of trying my hand at em for the couple days I would have available. I am looking to take them off of my list.

See run fishing is not slow this time of year; they are feasting on smolt. Bur an 18+ fish is something any time of year. Sounds like a great day papafish.

That was a great day, thanks guy's. I have caught a number of larger size SRC off this beach, I almost thought I had hooked a small salmon when I first got a look at that fish , because of the size and how bright it was. Yesterday I went back, but it was a bust, because of the wind and rain. Today it's cloudy and the tide is still rising but the wind is calm, so.......I'm out of here!

You'll find that at some of the more popular beaches fish are spread out, this time of year with all the hype about chum fry they are heavily pressured. Be willing to move if you're not finding fish at one spot.

DSCF0157.JPG Here is what it looked like this AM. No love today but it is nice having a private beach all to yourself!
I usually have good results where the big rocks start, I have hiked all the way up to the far end though it's a long way on gravel.

Congrats on finding some good fish. So far, the 18.5" seems to have escaped the eagle. Thanks for the report and pic. That's a nice looking beach up on that far end. That gravel slope looks like it really gives the ankles a workout.

Thanks Jim. actually it was the smaller fish the eagle came after. Don't get me wrong, the eagle is welcome to as many fish as it can catch, just not the one at the end of my line..LOL!
Anytime you feel like you want an ankle workout, Jim, let me know.

Thanks for the report man. I grew up in Federal Way and visited beaches like this all the time. Wish I had fished them now so I wasn't going into this upcoming trip blind. I will have to pray I can get into fish in the couple days I have. Thanks for the report.

happy i could do that for you. The cutties fun to catch. its like fighting a trout on steroids. They are my favorite trout to fish for. flies.. marabou clousers are great. olive/white, brown/white, gray/white, and fl shrimp/white are all great color combos. also try a black/brown/tan. all on a Daichii 2546 sz6 with a 5/32 dumbell eye. mirage is a great flash on the side.
