I come over once a year from the Eastside of Oregon to fish for coho in the sound. This year my trip will be from Sept. 6 - Sept. 13. I might be able to bring my boat but am not sure. Anybody have any advice on general places to hit? (I will be in South Seattle). Thanks.

I live on Whidbey Island and that's a long haul from S. Seattle by boat, but if you drove north and launched in Mukilteo, you'd have easy access to the shoreline south of Mukilteo and easy crossing to Columbia beach on Whidbey. There should be coho scattered in this area. If the weather cooperates and your boat is 16' or better, you could run around Possession Pt. (S. tip of Whidbey) and fish all along the shorelines there and the bays - including Useless Bay, Schatchet Head, Double Bluff on the west side of Useless Bay (In the kelp beds) and then Mutiny Bay.

Mukilteo is in area Marine Catch area 8-2 and as you head west around Possession, you're in MA 9. This will help you when looking at the fishing regulations.

Now there is lots of water to fish that is closer to S. Seattle than what I just described, but I don't fish Elliot Bay, Kingston/Jeff Head area - but lots of people do!

After all that - you should not that the Mukelteo boat launch is exposed to current and wave action. There are docks to walk your boat out on, but the can get bucking good if the weather is bad. There is another good HUGE boat launch in Everett off Marine View Drive on 10th Street. Here the launch is very protected behind Jetty Island, but the run out to the bay is much longer, as some of it is a No Wake Zone to protect moored boats.

Edmonds has a luanch that I have not used, but it is expensive and is a sling lift system that doesn't work well on most trailers with bunks unless there is a gap in the bunk to fit the straps through.

Have a great stay. We are getting rain now and that bodes well for feeding silvers to be here during your stay.
