I was saddened to hear that Jeff Cedarholm passed away after a three year struggle with brain cancer. Those fishermen who knew him are well aware of how much his research and endless advocacy for wild salmon helped to change attitudes and policies for wild salmon protection/enhancement. His research studies in the 1970's in the Clearwater River drainage(Olympic Peninsula) of over-wintering side channel rearing habitat for coho salmon smolt was ground breaking science. He was an early advocate of the need for large woody debris in streams for salmon habitat. He inspired many students at the University of Washington and The Evergreen State College as a mentor and role model. He will be missed by all that he touched.

My prayers thank him for his wild salmon research/advocacy and to his family for their loss.
