    Okay folks,

I need the lowdown on putting together a shooting head system for my 6 weight. Cost is somewhat of an issue, so if there is a do-it-yourself method, I'd appreciate info on that too. Assume I know nothing about running lines, etc., because it's pretty much true. I've read a lot about shooting head systems, but I would love some tried and true advice on what to do; where to go; brand names; the works.

I plan to use the system for SRC fishing in the local salt, and Dollies in Alaska.

Thanks for any help. Assuming I get some good advice and get something put together, I'll post with my results.

I'm looking at building a shooting head setup for my 6 weight as well, and have been trying to find some information for a while. Try Dan Blanton's web page and his forum, do a search for shooting heads and you should find some stuff. Also, www.globalflyfisher.com has an article on shooting heads somewhere on there... Good luck and PLEASE post your results!
