You don't need another rod, you need many rods. Why deny yourself? To paraphrase a 17th century poet: the grave's a sad and lonely place and none I think do there go fishing

The equation expressing the correct number of rods for any fly fisherman to own is: x +1. "x" always equals the current number of rods owned. Math doesn't lie.

P.S. I'm pretty sure that works with bicycles too.

Isn't this like asking an alcoholic if you should buy another round?
    Clearly the answer is yes.

If you want to get another rod then get another rod. If you don't, don't.

Rods are like boats. You only need one more than you currently have.

My past two trips to the river have involved two rods. I am starting to love having one rigged for nymphing all day and another in case fish start rising. The way fish rise for 10 minutes a day this time of year, my strategy has saved a ton of knot tying and kept my flies on the water. Get an 8' 4wt for big river hatches and for small water.

    Musky,

No matter how many rods you now own or ever will own, the universal answer to the question: how many rods do I need? is: one more.

There are some things to consider before going forward. Do you really want another rod? Do you have the $ to spare? Will your wife be pissed if she finds out? If she is, can you take her( hell hath no fury like a women scorned)? If you answered no to any of these....f88k it, go buy the rod

Rods and boats are like a Sultan's harem. Why would you want to only enjoy ONE?

I currently live in SW colorado and I use a 5wt. But you could fish just about every stream with a 3wt real easy, my wife likes her 4wt.
