Has anyone fished this lake for trout before? I know it's a destination fishery for bass, but I have also heard there are some large trout in there as well. Thinking about checking it out in the next few months.

Silver may have some trout in it but it is poor habitat for them. It is a large shallow and warm lake. Spiny rays do extremely well in there. I haven't fished it in about 15 years now but used to go there quite often. Trout catches back then were extremely rare and I don't know how it could have improved over the years, it is still warm and shallow and very large-about 3,000 acres I think.

A better bet for trout might be Swofford Pond a few miles further up the road. It had brown trout in it back when I was fishing it and may still have them now. It also served up some excellent bluegill fishing in the spring. Kress Lake also had trout in it and there could be some carryovers in there from year to year. Hopefully someone with recent experience will give you the latest skinny on these lakes.
