Is it safe to say a six weight is adequate to fish silvers? I have an eight weight...but my 6 is brand new and I am itching to use it!!!

Oh Yeah - it's a blast! "Safe" depends on many factors, and some might say that you might tire the fish out too much, by-catch a larger fish (see Chum post from last week....) and tire it out too much. Safe for your rod is not a problem - any rod will break if you play a fish incorrectly.

    Have fun.

A 6wt is fine, as long as you have a reel with a good drag. Last year I caught several on my 6wt and never had any problems. The larger ones 12lbs+ are a little tought on it though. Just make sure you are in a good spot to land them.
