Headed down to the Lewiston/Clarkston area with the Itchy Dog and my brother. We're hoping to we a line in the Snake for a few hours on Fri. afternoon. If anyone has thoughts on where to fish or how to pick water, your advice is appreciated. I have only fished the granary drift, so am pretty unfamiliar with the river.

My best luck last year was from the granary downstream about 2 miles. You'll have to keep your eyes peeled for the few decent places to park and that are not posted, but they're there. No luck at 10 mile rapids for me but we did see some guys hooked up there over the several days we worked that area.

Everything I fished was real soft water and flows. I used a salmon-fly I use on the Deschutes and never switched to another pattern in 3 days...just let it create a wake and tried like hell to remind myself to drop the loop.

Check with Poppy at the Red Shed. Better yet, go visit if you have time.

    Leland.
He'll wonder what you're doing there fishing for overwintering summer fish.
