Went out last week in MA9. At one point right at dusk baitfish started raining out of the water and I got a solid tug. Was half asleep and my strip set must have been late. Landed 2 sculpin though.

I should say... at least it keeps my morale from plummeting to the ocean floor!

Fished for over 3 hrs yesterday. One bullhead, got my stones handed to me by about an 11 year old kid. I'm guessing he landed about 20 bull heads, not sure his dad was happy. What does a herring Cost now $.90?

I'm gonna hit it today, on the incoming. Not my favorite tide flow for this beach but hey gotta hit it when I can. Gonna throw some Crazy Charlie's and try out some "slump busters" tied salty style. Micro pine squirel strips rule for small bunny type flies.

Last week took the new-to-me boat out and the wife and I picked up the daughter and 2 grandkids for a trip. Tried for salmon for awhile at a popular KP spot but no joy. After a few hours of trolling with gear we dropped the daughter and grandchildren off at a local launch and then headed back north and stopped for some fly-casting in a channel that is known for strong currents. Found a spot with a bit of a back-eddy and made a few casts and brought to hand several nice SRC in the 12 to 14-inch class. Also a number of smaller "followers" that just wouldn't commit.

Forgot to name the beach, plug your popper fly, remind us of the next Orvis flyout SRC trip, and date for the next Orvis beach fishing presentation and something about occupy Skagit.

He is saying he caught many feeding blackmouth using a popper.

Did any of your blackmouth break the 22" size barrier? Thanks for the report.

Is that not a SRC? Not the best picture for ID, but there seem to be spots below the lateral line and white gums with more yellowish fins. Maybe I'm missing something here.

I fished a popular west side MA9 beach from my kayak on Sunday. I launched at 5:45am, just after first light, and fished until about noon. I did some trolling as well as casting and stripping using mostly a chartreuse, pink, and white clouser. I had one strike while trolling but it was off after a head shake so I'm not sure it what it was. Other than that I saw no activity other than tons of bait fish, sea otters, and a big sea lion who popped up surprisingly close and barked at me for a few seconds. At about 10:30 I switched to casting a sculpin pattern and caught a few SRCs and a shiner perch. Beautiful day but SLOW. Anybody else seeing things pick-up?

Fished a MA 9 beach this a.m. Got one really nice Coho, saw 2 other caught. Missed another at my feet. In a couple of weeks it should really start to pick up...hopefully!
BTW-posted a pic of the fish in the gallery.
