Sportgear.ca :: Tulli Horizon chest pack, Tulli backpack add-on, Striping apron. "The Tulli Horizon deluxe chest pack is ideal for all types of fishing. Designed originally to eliminate jacket weight; this pack provides ample organized storage for all your gear." "Avid anglers will enjoy this chest pack immensely as the Tulli chest pack is very comfortable to wear with a new shoulder suspension design. Fourteen different pockets in the front, the large back pouch can hold a 70 oz. water bladder plus lunch plus gear. Durable construction includes a water repellant 600D outer fabric, heavy-duty zippers, and "D" rings to attach your gear." This pack is thoughtfully design and over engineered. Beyond the ample storage which you would expect, there are a few features I found that set it apart. First is that the shoulder suspension design is more like a backpack so loading it down isn't going to kill your shoulders throughout the day. Next is that, as you would expect, you can adjust the pack to your liking which like most packs may interfear with your downward vision during stream crossings. Without having to re-adjust everything you simple inzip the two front chest packs and a secondary attachments allows for the packs to fall to the side yet keep the pack on your shoulders. Rezip when that foot or so in front of your feet doesn't need your attention anymore. Sportgear sent along some other items that'll be included with the pack when out on demo. For those hitting the beach you might want to try their stripping apron. It's a wide belt which has a collapsable apron that velcro's flat to the belt. Unlatch the velcro and the apron pops out rigid enough to stay open without issue. A rod sling which wraps around your reel and on end and the tips of your halved rod at the other. Between them are a sling. Use it when hiking or attaching to the coat hangers inside your vehicle to keep your rod up high.
Product photos with notes included below. Clearly this pack has had a lot of thought put into it. It's actually over engineered, which I like a lot. A mass of pockets (usable, positioned well), great shoulder padding which makes it comfortable enough to wear it all the time, not just in transport from place to place, and it just fits well. One of the problems some complain of with chest packs is the lack of visibility around their feet when wading. The Tulli has a separate adjustable clip in strap that keeps the front packs connected yet separated when downward visibility is needed. I had no problems with the pack falling off my shoulders when using the strap alone. In fact, I've started wearing it like that most of the time, only zipping up when I didn't want it moving around on me at all, for whatever reason. I tested one day with the pack loaded down. Beyond being stuffed with fishing gear, I brought along my SLR camera, a .45 with two spare clips, lunch with a few beers, a radio, cell, ect. Even with the front packs unzipped, the shoulder pads performed really well. When zipped, much off the weight was distributed off the shoulders. The material they used is solid. Straps are strong, clips are large, zippers work well with nice quality pull strings with grips, ample padding throughout the shoulder and back which makes odd shaped objects in the backpack less noticeable. Excellent pack. It's now my primary except when fishing local requiring only a lanyard and large shorts / wader pocket. Chris
I took the pack out this weekend for a trip to the Yakima. I was extremely impressed. As Chris mentioned, I find that alot of the chest packs I've tried on before have a tendency to block your view down, but this one is extremely well designed. It was easy to get on, and I used it both with the zipper and the chest strap. It was easy to adjust for either, and I liked the flexibility of using either option based on how bundled up you are. I often fish with a backpack on, but having everything up front right in your reach is awesome. There were a ton of pockets - almost too many. If I used it often, I'd know right where to find stuff, but I had a few times that I had to look in 3 different pockets before I could remember which one something was in. You can buy either the chest pack or the combination that has the backpack included. I've already put this on my christmas list...
Hey Chris, is this available? I'd love to check it out. Preferably sooner the better. Would even come up and pick her up. As early as tomorrow if possible. Let me know.
The New Modular Tulli Chest Pack is now available with Chris. Interchangeable fronts and backs make this chest pack system very easy for you to customize. Check out the new Venture (aka Horizon from earlier design), Rover, Scout and Kodiak fronts for 2007. We also have a few new colors and material like fluorescent orange and ripstop nylon. Any questions, feel free to drop us a line.
Hi Chris, Glad to here the positive review. I've been fishing with a Fish Pounf vest and it's bulky and heavy on the shoulders. I primarily fish theNew England states but travel frequently. I love to find "off the beaten path" type places and this vest sounds just right. I have searched for days trying to locate one to purchase but the closest thing I come to is one that is listed on this site and they say to call them because they are on back order. I'm going to Belize in February and would love to have a Tulli Horizon for the trip. Can you point me to a place that I could purchase one prior to my trip. Thanks Chris. Tom "Caddit3"Norton. Tom, hopefully Brian can get you one. If Sportgear is on back order I don't know where else to send you. Good luck! Chris
the sportgear.ca site has a dealer link I got mine, with the fullback, at Sportco in Fife but that was a few years ago.
Hi, I just bought the new Tulli Kodiak chest pack w/full back pack and it arrived in a damaged condition. There was a zipper that didn't close on one of the main pockets. I have been unable to get any phone or email response at all from Sportgear.ca concerning any replacement or repair. Does anyone know if they have gone out of business ? Dick Compton
Hi guys, reel noob here. Have any of you North Westerners tried to contact the store lately? Either via online or other? I've tried for a couple days now, and the site is down. No answer at the "store" either. Was looking to get some gear there, and, actually, they now owe me some. So I'd like an answer somehoe, y'know? Thanks KRN
