I fished Squalicum lake today and several of the trout I caught were about 8 inches with cutthroat spotting but no orange throat slashes or yellow in fin or belly areas. The body coloration was more like rainbows but with the heavy spotting of fine black. I remember many smaller cutts with normal adult coloration in this size in years past. Anyone have any knoweldge or idea of what these fish are. I am sorry I did not take pictures.

They are coastal cutthroat trout. There are some larger rainbows in there also but you were catching the standard squalicum cutthroat.

haven't fished there in years but guess you are into the small, mature cutthroat that spawn in the stream on the south side of the lake.....used to get some sea runs in there but the journey to the lake is arduous today......
