Steelhead fly swap 2007!

Discussion in 'Fly Swaps' started by obiwankanobi, Sep 19, 2007.

  1. THIS IS THE OFFICIAL POST THAT WILL BE UPDATED AS THE SWAP PROGRESSES, PLEASE CHECK HERE FOR UPDATES!!! We have 12 entrants, which means 11 flies per person. I will allow one more person to chime in to make it a doz a piece or, I will close it as it stands now. SWAP CLOSED

This will be limited to one pattern a piece, since the thought of tying 24 flies, will invade my fishing time on the water(i.e. every weekend, all weekend)

THE OFFICAL DUE DATE IS OCT. 21st

The swap is limited to speys/dees/hair wings. I can't wait for the submission.

P.S. Two things: Rather than putting $2 in an envelope for a return postage, just have a pre-stamped bubble lined envelopE included. I think if you fold it correctly you could probably make both the flies and envelope fit. If not, submit the $2.

I am from the generation where plastic is key, so for me to get $2.00 is a big pain, so if it is for you, then a pre-paid postage will work. The current rate is $1.47 usually!

Daryle Holmstrom, I have got your p&s covered, so don't include a thing.

    Send to:

    Thanks, Bob

  3. I would be interested in a steelie fly swap limited to speys, dees, and classic hairwings. I am also set up to take fly photos if needed.
    Regards,

  4. count me in Bob, got to put my new station to work. Haven't tied any spey or dee but willing to give it a try.

  5. I wouldn`t mind joining this one . I`m from B.C , and relatively new to the board , and if that raises concerns , I`ll understand . If not , I`m in . Any idea of a timeline , or how many flies need to be tied ? I`ll be on the Bulkley for a couple of weeks from mid Oct. , and might not be able to get a start on them until I return .

    Cheers

  6. That is great that so far many members have chimed in to join. Just a few things, I want to try to make this a spey/dee/hairwing swap. I apologize if that is limiting, but just to be fair to all, it would be nice to swap a more involved fly with another.

Brian, since I am hosting that would be great for you to join. I would love for flies from BC so if you know others that are tiers, encourage them to get involved.

    Thanks,

    Bob

P.S. If anyone has further questions, just pm me.

  7. If you tied the fly in your Avatar .... "what's to worry?":thumb:

Edit: Dah Fred .... (Still in the 'throws' of the Summer Cold Form Hell!) Count me in.

  8. Obi,

How many tyers are you looking at? If your doing a half dozen or so count me in.
    FRank

  9. 1more, it will at least be a half dozen. I want to leave it open to generate more for now!!

  10. David, I was hoping you would chime in as that greenhighlander is a very nice tie.

  11. Hey I would love to be part of this swap. I've been learning/practicing how to tie basic spey and dee flies all summer.:thumb:

How about a Green Butt Silver Hilton?

  12. Count me in if a hair wing signal light will work.

  13. Hair wings will work! Here is the list of confirmed responses:

10 people thus far, equals 9 ties a piece. One more person can chime in, but I suspect with 9 ties, per person, we can almost assume it is closed. I would assume that we want to do one tie a piece? If people reply with wanting to do two patterns then chime in, otherwise 9 ties, sounds more fun right now than 18 ties. It doesn't matter with me!!

What about a due date for Oct 15th? It is fast, I know, but Brian has a trip planned and we all know that steelhead season is here now.

Again one more person can join and please email me if you can't make this swap. It is a go!!!!

  14. Sounds good. I am starting mine tonight.

  15. Room for 1 more??????

I haven't done a steelie swap in a few years so I reckon I'm due...

  16. Unfortunately, I am out of town until the 26th and then leave for the Clearwater Spey Gathering on the Clearwater. So I will not be able to make an Oct. 15th deadline. I look forward to the next time.

    Regards,

  17. Why thank you :)

I have three one the bench right now. October 15 will work fine. I can tie 6 more by then no sweat

    This'll be FUN!!!

  18. Nine flies by the 15th, sounds good...
    Frank

  19. UPDATE!!! Halycon agreed that he can tie his patterns by Oct 21st! So in leiu of his steelhead seeking adventures, I have postponed the date until then.

Brian, just have your ties in to me before you leave(mid Oct) and then you can be sure that you will make the deadline.
