Having made an etiquette error early in my fishing experience in eastern washington, I think this is a good idea, but I would change the order (in agreement with one of the other posters).

For Wade Anglers, I would change the order to

    4
    2
    3
    1

It also helps if you can shorten it. IMHO

    exactly Jim

.. What are we gonna do, create another "law"? Fun times indeed. The " You must cast and step" law. God forbid you step upstream. Perhaps a double fine for this unthinkable action would be appropriate. Perhaps something that mandates casting style too. And I mean style. You must look good casting. Not the type of cast, but as long as your appearance on the river doesn't offend those that decide what that is.

J/k all... guidelines posted around is a good idea, but those that do not care will just say like OMJ says" it's a free country" which it is, kinda, almost , once was but slipping away quickly.

On navigable waterways the downstream vessel has the right of way, usually to follow "river right" unless otherwise constrained, Under the Code of Federal Regulations, Navigable Waterways, USCG Nav/ Rules. So, in all situations that is the underlying tenet of law. Then you can talk about fishing courtesies.

Funny how no one ever talks poorly or bitches about the Zollers being rude on the river, or really anyone else doing the diver/bait thang.

Wow "Steve" it only took you three years to write this after your BOY'S showed up on the Methow and Klickitat exhibiting the WORST river etiquette we have ever seen. Thanks for coming around POLITICALLY to express your leadership, in something that has been know by those that fished here long before you showed up. If any of us were actaully in charge your guide service would have lost there Licence after the 2009 BS....

At least Steve put his name and his company out there to post this versus creating a new handle and bad mouthing him. Buddha you did have the balls to put yourself out there on your feelings about this. I personally have no clue about the past, but I strongly believe in second chances and it is clear to me that Steve intends to make it clear to his guides and clients that there will be protocol to follow. Therefore, I don't believe your post was helpful candybar.

Candy ass has no sac. Creating a new handle to anonymously disparage someone is a real puss move.

These are sound "rules of the river" and make good sense to me...well done Steve.

Now we need to work on a like set of rules for the growing motorized mosquito fleet zooming up and down sections of rivers historically absent of such use -- St. Joe one of the most recent examples.

Have any of you people talking smack ever visited Fortson or Reiter on the first of December on the opening of Winter fishing. Nobody moves, if you did you would lose your place on the shore/bank Their places are protected by people with GUNS. Somebody with a fly rod doesn't have a chance/prayer in hell of getting in the water.

Thanks for starting this important conversation. The last thing we need is a repeat of the fight scene we all saw from AK. Courtesy and patience should rule the waters.

To be fair Jim, I would argue that places like those have historically belong to the gear folks...they don't do the cast-swing-step dance. Expecting to step in and swing fly's seems unreasonable. Wow, when I think of a situation like that taking place on the Cowlitz at Blue Creek, back in the 80's...well, let's just say it would be entertaining.

Hmmmmmm, will have to look into this. Yeah, I HATE people who use pseudo accounts to post up stuff like this. Unless by chance we have a lurker or a fellow lone guide who's pissed about Red's moving in.

Again, let's keep this on track fellers. Let's talk about what's proposed, not tossing shit at each other.

Ohhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. I even get ONE hint of bead vs swing regs, I'm gonna be parking your asses in no time flat. ;)

I will be fishing over there in mid-Sept. You can be damn sure that I'll not low hole anyone, walk on redd's etc. I would be pleasantly surprised if I am not corked by a guides client though.

The fact that this will be a written policy for your guides is really good. It shouldn't come to having to write it down though.

Good thing I erased those 2 paragraphs. I've been scolded but never parked. Do you have some super secret access to what I'm writing as I write or something? Just don't look at my history while your in there. There's some sick shit in there.

No joke Ed. That is the truth. I do love me a good campfire.

Few around here have had the privaledge of hanging around the campfire with me after a couple barley pops. I gotta change that.
