I know this doesn't go here but want as many people to know as possible.

Well I have set up camp on the HOH river to fish steel during the xmas break from school. However I awoke this morning to find my Reddington 14' 8wt and Tioga 12 had been stolen. It was on my truck parked right in front of my tent well off the road. I am not even visible from the road. I for sure cannot afford to purchase another setup. Guess I will be practicing my fly tying skills which I just learned two nights ago and taking pictures. If anyone has any information please let me know! Don't know when I will be able to buy another setup either.....

    Christoph!

Serious!? I can't express enough gratitude Chris. If you are ever in the Bellingham Area, you have a place to stay and food to eat.

I have a medalist 1498 that you can use. It isn't all that pretty but it'll hold line just fine. I'm in B'ham. looks like you just need to scrape up a rod.

    Go Sox,

Guys, ScudCuddler is out on the OP right now camping at Willoughby. Anyone headed that way? I'd send him a full switch setup but I'm on call this weekend and can't leave Kitsap. I have tomorrow off and could meet anyone passing through Kitsap County heading out to the OP.

Wow. This is why I love this forum. I don't have any 2 hand gear to loan, but seeing this kind of thing makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Dude met me on his way out there to pick up a reel for his pal. He was so excited to be fishing. Now he is stuck tying flies. All we need is someone headed that way that is willing to pick up my rod/reel and get it to him.
I'm still a jerk Bill, but a story about gutless thieves stealing someone's gear and leaving that guy stuck is just disturbing.

Looks like Jed beat me to it! The DOT guys found my rod yesterday evening, discarded a mile or so before HWY 101. The guy was street sweeping and saw it sticking out of the bushes. The tip was broken however. I went to the DOT station on the HOH rd. and they had my rod in there. Awesome guys. The head guy there has a brother who lives across from the shop and he makes/fixes rod. He fixed me rod up in 15 minutes and I am back at it. What crazy Karma. Even more impressive was the amount of selfless help coming from the WFF membes. What a great community of people we have here. The rod will get me through the rest of my vacation, then I may need to do something after about the the tip. Now i just need the weather and river flows to cooperate, any ideas? Well Thanks for all the support, and I am still accepting gear :) !!!

    Cheers,

    Christoph!

Christoph, that is a great end to the story. Knowing your vacation plans could have been greatly altered without a rod for the next couple of weeks, glad all has worked out.

So was it stolen or did it fly off the rod holder in the dark?
I know, for myself, it would make me feel better if I new it was my own fault and not have to worry if that's all they took or if they might come back.

Anyway happy to hear you got your gear and you're back on the water!

    James.

I have the same rod and almost the same reel,12 specialist LA.Just called redington last week as my finish is coming off.30 dollars and a return address will get you a new RS4.Granted it was stolen and abused, but im sure if you call them and talk to a customer rep they will work with you.

    Good luck

Yea that sounds like a good deal. However something else happened. I got hte rod back and the graphite must have been cracked from the rods previous adventure with unknowns. I made 2 casts and it broke. The top section broke in half and there are cracks in other sections of the rod. Bastards! Well, I am headed to Port Angeles Today to see what I can scare up. This sucks, atleast the river is at 12k CFS and the fishing is void for a few days. Weather looks good htough and I am hoping Late Tues or Early Wed will be fishable. Better hit the road!
