I was there about a year ago (maybe it was 2). You don't need the pass. Make sure you get a good map. You park at a gate and hike about 4 (I think) miles down an easy, but not well kept trail. You have to cross (as in no bridge) Sunday creek at one point. You would need a float tube to fish the lake well. It has either brook trout or cutthroat - maybe both?

    I might be old---but I'm good.

If you stay on the county road you shouldn't need one.
