When I was in high school 7-8 years ago, I figured out how to fly fish on the North Fork of the Lewis. There were some amazing days with some great hatches in addition to some skunkings. I never caught many fish more than a mile or two above the lake, much as I tried, but generally had moderate success around the cliffs. I am planning a trip back to my old stomping grounds and want to hit up the NFL, Merrill, and maybe Canyon/Siouxon. I know the fishing isn't top notch, but those waters do feel like home. I'm curious: have these waters changed? What is the fishing like there these days? Have the hex been spotted yet?
I know that the one or two times I've returned it seemed that the fishing quality was slowly deteriorating in these waters- I'm hoping others have had other experiences.
