Mine hit the mail tomorrow. I ended up not doing a spade. Started thinking about small dark flies on desert rivers in Sept/October and decided on a new pattern. For inspiration, I used the "Half-Ass" pattern by Jeremy Floyd in last year's Summer Steelhead swap and combined it with a Mack's Canyon color palette. The result is the "Max Caddis". Hook - Alec Jackson Spey #7 Tail - black crystal flash pointed up Tag - gold flat tinsel Rear body - orange natural seal fur blended with dark orange trilobal flash Front body - black natural seal fur blended with black flash simi-seal Rib - medium gold oval Rear hackle - Coque, half-bronze Front hackle - Orange dyed Guinea
