Taylor River is the furthest branch of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie? Right? I plan to do some exploring with my fly rod and just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right spot.
Thats what im looking at a map. All im asking is if that is the right river im looking at. Its where middle fork road turns to Forest road 5600. The only thing I cant find it whether to go straight and up or hang a right where the river forks. Which portion is the Taylor? Or is all of it?
The Taylor is the primary outlet for Snoqualmie Lake and joins the MF just below the bridge you cross to head to the Snoqualmie Lake trailhead. FR110 heads to the right after the bridge, which takes you along the MF towards Dingford, Goldmeyer, etc. Stay left as you cross the bridge and that's the Taylor to your left.
Let us know how it works out. I've never fished the Taylor .. always turned right after the bridge and fish upstream .... Stew
At one time you could drive to the end of the road. Boy, do I hate gates. I have only hit the Taylor once. Small trout. When the road was one time passable I drove up it. I was with my ex son in law. We were rock hunting. Lots of nice looking water up in there. Good crystal hunting also, if you know where to go.
You can fish right where you leave your car, or if you walk up the trail (abandoned road that Jim refers to) about a mile the trail, the trail comes back near the stream. D
When I did that it was in 1987. You could go as far as the river. We crossed the river and hiked up to where the dig was. When I was younger, my knees weren't bad. Just working at the lazy "B" on them cement floors is what did me in.
I fished the Taylor today -- caught a fair number of small cutthroat on a size 14 EHC. Parked just past where the road forks and fished up. Was pretty close to the road but still seemed to hold a decent number of fish ...
I've always wanted to fish the stretch. I hiked the Taylor river trail (Otter Falls Trail in some hiking guidebooks) a few times in the past but never fished it. Good to hear that there are decent numbers in there. I may have to fish it one of these days.
