She busted her butt today. It was great to get back into web-footed birds that honk and quack. That storm that blew in threw the waterfowl world upside down. Here is a list of the waterfowl we saw (and shot some of) today:

four different species of Canada geese
    snow geese
    white front geese
    mallards
    pintail
    widgeon
    gadwall
    green winged teal
cinnamon teal (yes, they were cinnamon teal, the first I've ever seen during duck season. They landed a bit too far from the decoys or I would have whacked one of them)
    ring necks
    shovelers
    wood duck

    What a show today, incredible.

I didn't take any photos of the birds, I was too focused on trying to not get any wetter than I already was. I do have a "grip and grin" but that wasn't the main joy of the hunt today. Man, was it wet out there and we were hunting from fixed blinds that had roofs. It was like the rain went through the wood.

If the weather forecast is correct, it should just keep getting better and better waterfowling!

That is an interesting list of waterfowl, hits all types. Nothing like pass shooting screaming teal in the wind - those suckers can move.

Great adventure, Karl . . . thanks for sharing. Drake Cinnamons are gorgeous birds and quite the adroit flyers.

Wore her ass out again this morning. It is a very unusual early season this year. We even knocked down four specks. (Dinner will be sautéed medallions of white front goose breast served with a light berry sauce, or maybe guava.) Yee haw.
