Steeli- Sorry you have to drop out. If you change your mind let us know! You will miss a good time at the Tides Tavern and their clam chowder, and the new improved Gig Harbor Fly Shop. See you again in another swap sometime. Scott- Glad you can make it! That's great! I think it could prove to be a good time. We'll drag you over to the Gig Harbor Fly Shop as well.
OK, where are the guys that like to catch trout? Apparently there are too many blind people on this site that can't tie anything under size 16???......... Come on all, we need at least 3 more tiers. Don't be afraid. Sign up and have fun!
Okay Larry go ahead and put me on the list and lets see what I can do. I'm slow and awkward but since these are small I may be able to get them done. I have tied 18's before but nothing smaller. and I'll have to see if I've got 18s available, might be two different hooks But that's okay. I met you last year at the casting thing we did in Lion park in Bremerton I'm still just as retarded and trying to stumble on. but not too bad. Are you going to be at Jasons the 15th for his Radish bash? if so I'll see you there. Other wise in Gig Harbor. Happy fishin !!
Great Bob! I'm a slow tier too, trust me! Thanks for joining up and hope to see you again. You're on the list!
We now have triploidjunkie signed up! That makes for 11 tiers, so we have room for one more! Triploidjunkie can't make it to the face to face meet, but it is not required by anyone. So, if you can't make it, please send in your flies by the 31st so I can get them to others. Ed (Mumbles), thanks. Looking forward to your CDC pattern!
Larry, count me in on the face to face. I'll tie a...................emerger of some kind. Wish me luck, and get Kokita to join in as well. He'd be a good addition. Sterling
Sterling- This is great! We now have a dozen tiers. We could probably leave it open for one more if your friend Kokita would like to join. Thanks. Hope to see you at the Tides Tavern on the 5th of February. Larry
OK Everyone! Looks like we have a "full set" of tiers! It's possible we could have one add on if Sterling silver's friend wants to join in. That would make 13 tiers, which means tying 12 flies (plus 1 more if you tie one for yourself!). Go to it! And hopefully we can get together for a "Face to Face" swap for those that can make it on February 5 at the Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor at 11 AM. As I said before, they make a pretty good clam chowder for something like $5.00 a bowl I think. After lunch and the swap, you can walk over to the Gig Harbor Fly Shop and check out their "new expanded shop". Good Luck, and Good Night! -Larry
Scott- Did I claim to be a good fly tier??? Oh oh.... no I didn't! Ask my friends. Ha! Number 1, I'm slower than a ten year itch to say the least. I think I will be tying a small little surface midge/emerger that I had luck with at Cady Lake last year over here. I don't have a name for it, but it's pretty simple. These don't have to be fancy guys, they're midges! So don't feel bad tying something simple! OK, back to my "signature offering"...... ha! Sterling silver- Are you going to get Kokita to sign up for this swap?
I'll be exicited to get a fly that actually works at Cady! Those fish have PHD's and my college education just doesn't go far enough.
Sanity checking...does it struggle in the surface film? Yup. 9 done. Tired. These things strain my eyes. I'll finish tomorrow perhaps.
Nice Mumbles! That's how an emerger should look in the water. It should put some fish in the net when riseforms are on the water
Thank you. Tied the rest down a bit further to the start of the bend. Puts the tail end in a better downward position I think. Normally I'd fish them in a darker cdc, but honestly my eyes are not so great, the cream color is much easier to see in the water.
