Any suggestions on building a trolling rod for salmon. He lives in San Diego who will be going to Washington state Puget sound area in May.As being a gift from a Washington guy not much information could be said. He thinks no downriging or dipsy divers would be used, just leadcore or wire on a flat line.I have built plenty of trolling rods here on the east coast for stripers with roller guides, and silicon carbide in six to seven footers with 12 to 16 tips.
Just curious what you guys use for trolling out there in Washington.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Anything that can handle the bigger stripers can handle salmon. The fight may differ so you could consider outfitting the rod for comfort.
