Did some linging with Steve Rohrbach today. Caught a bunch of big uglies and a bunch of smaller rock uglies on about six different flies and colors. What a hoot! Leland.
I heard you were struggling to get a Ling to rise to your popper, Leland! Glad you guys got into some fish!
Notice how calm the water is! But I'm wondering why I'm feeling so beat up. It couldn't be from casting 40' of T-14 and one of Steve's giant lead-eyed, coneheaded monsters on a 10wt?! I finally switched to a lighter winter steelhead fly - a #2 Pink Worm. Ha! Leland.
Leland, admit it, you enjoyed coming over to the dark side if only for a day. I have to admit, the idea of throwing a popper on a floating 6-weight sounds appealing right now.
My shoulder is completely blown out after so many days with the 10 wt, T-14, and heavy flies... not to mention horrible casting technique!!!! 6 wts and topwater SRC is going to be a welcome change for me tomorrow... although, I think I need a couple more Big Uglies on the fly to tide me over until next year!
Leland, my dinner of choice was an Advil Cocktail. Four Advil with a water chaser. So much for the golden years.
I'm with ya on that "golden years' bs, Steve! As soon as I catch the guy who coined that phrase, I'll put his head on a stick outside the pearly gates, "pour encourager les autres!!".
