Mumbles, that's where we probably may be out. I hate that lower float, I won't do it. Even when I was out for C&K on fish (which I still do, depending on what I'm fishing for) I stayed away from that float. I like the upper float from the Park down to Oxbow (or whatever combo I do from that point down). I was thinking of doing Morgans to Willoughby. Or if I'm there early enough friday I may do a run on my steelheader from Morgans down to Oxbow to scout it all out.

Jerry, that is cool. Having not seen Morgans to Willoughby nor Willoghby to Oxbow I'd not feel that confident at my experience level to float those. Maybe if I get there in time to connect with you there is a chance you'll take me along. I just want to fish and come home safe and have heard there are some tougher sections above the Oxbow campground. As far as shuttling, if your rig is up higher and you float into camp, if I'm there I won't mind running you up to your rig.

Ok Mumbles. From pre flood experience, Morgan's to Willoughby isn't bad. It's that Willoughby to Oxbow that get people in trouble. Eventhough it really isn't that bad. If I get there Friday, we can take a run up if you want. I'd prefer to do a good scouting. Nice thing about the Oxbow (or used to be) you could pull out on the right before you head into the mix. Then long rope the boat down to the takeout. There is some BEAUTIFUL scenery once you go below Willoughby. I think I love that upper float more for the whole experience.

Novices should NOT float down to Oxbow from Morgans or Willoughby. The chute and turn just above Oxbow is technical and does eat boats. The rest of the river is pretty easy.

    Stay alive out there guys.

Thanks Salmo g, as always! My punk ass will be enjoying the water from Oxbow down unless I'm with a crafty veteran of the river and sticks. I may venture up that way and do some wading if there is access.

LOL Salmo g, that's why I said to pull off and walk the boat through. Hit that first bank to the right WAY up before the run. Then walk the bank down either tethering your boat, or walking it. I agree, that's a boat eater. Really isn't a bad run, just one wrong move and down she goes.

I'm going to give the upper floats a go as well. I'm betting other pontoons or DBs will be there mid week to shuttle each other.

Not sure how many of you know, but I collect antique cast iron cookware. Mostly Wagner pieces. I have a few waffle irons, but they are singles. Well, I luckily won a very beat up, well used "hotel waffle iron". Hoping to get it this week. Gives me a chance to clean it up and reseason it. These usually sell for over $1k if they are in good shape. Thankfully, with heavy pitting and repairs, I didn't pay $100. Since I want it as a user, this baby will work fine.

So, who wants waffles at the Hoh event?

OK who doesn't want waffles? Jerry you the man. Also, If I can make it i'd still like to get a ride in the DB and give a hand with the cooking.
We'll just have to see how the baby is doing. Right now, not so good. Day 4 of crying almost all night. Even when she's not crying, I can still hear it.
Anyway, do I still have a seat? and what dates are you and mumbles going?
    Cheers,
    Frank.

Not sure about Jerry's days Buck, but fishdontcare and I should arrive either late Thursday the 26th or early Friday the 27th. I think we are hoping to stick around the area, maybe fishing some of the other local rivers too, until late Sunday the 29th or Monday the 30th just in time for fishdontcare to fly back to parts unknown California.

Who else will be here that last weekend for the 2009 Hoh Down?

BTW, if Mumbles is keeping track, my visit to Oxbow has narrowed to Monday through Friday. Best time anyway.
