And exactly what type of beer did you keep cold there? .... :clown:
Jim drinks OP beer...other peoples....although, if I remember correctly, the Old Man is a Jim Beam kind of guy, ain't that right Jim??
Camping isn't that difficult. I went last year and two or three years ago, when night temps were in the teens. Slept plenty warm in a backpacking sized tent. OTH, I usually stay at the Forks Motel that OMJ referred to. Very comfortable and naturally a lot warmer than a campsite. I'll be staying in a hotel this year since the timing of the trip coincides with a scheduled trip to the Bahamas. I'll expect a complete report afterward.
I will be up there if the flows allow the last weekend in march. And we would be bringing the driftboat.
I might go if Im able to. I can supply fresh roe, sandshrimp, baitcasters....ect
FDC, are you serious. That makes you old man...and you know I hate to say that. I bet you and OMJ would seriously love kicking it with your WFF HohOnine pocket T's.
Oh, and don't be butt hurt FDC, you've had some whiskey and I've had some beer.
Oh, and OMJ...bite me.
LOL. I'll have my "Chateau de Alaskan Camper" on board, so that'll be my hotel room. But have no problems tent camping it. Even in the torrential rain. I've had many a trips rained out on the coast. In fact, about 7 years ago I took my then girlfriend, her Dad and little sister on my yearly April trip to the Hoh. We got there, setup camp, and it PUKED rain all night. That good old squal and downpour stuff. Was an awesome steelhead green that night. Was puking mud and high that morning. I made breakfast, then said "Well, I can rip the seats and strip the boat down and take us on a whitewater trip". Water was hitting so hard, the Oxbow and Willoughby actually had rollers. Was pretty nice. We were only boat on the water (of course). Was a good time.
But if I can make it, I'll be there rain or shine.
Sorry Mumbles, but the size of my biceps kept crushing the Camel pack in my sleeve.
You'd definitely catch fish. But you'll only be fishing below Oxbow (or 101 to be exact). Need to check the regs, but I'd fish with you.
I'll come based on the cuisine alone! Either weekend/weekday works for me...still unemployed. It'd be great to meet some people from this board and pop my WA steelie cherry...
What can I bring/do we need?
I Loved the molly d shirt!!!!!
We are in, there are four women in the group this year.
If shirts/hats are ordered please keep us in the loop, we will order again.
Looking forward to fishing with you all this year. So far we have only booked
guides for two days. We want to do the rest of the week on our own.
I have started on tube flies and they look great!
Yep. I had some beers when I was there last year. I drank one six pack(that I bought) and that was just enough to make the drive back to the Motel interesting, I even got me a Bottle of Jim Beam in town, but I didn't even crack it.
That was one hell of a long drive just to party.
P.S. There are going to be four women there. Can anybody I know going to hold your tongues???????????????? I hope not.
Alright Wooly, that makes two of us! I hope to get 'r done before then, but who knows.
I'm hoping to make both weekends, but like I said I'm thinking more like the last weekend of March will be the one I'm making. Will have camper loaded with my cooking gear, and I may even bring my driftboat. Not sure if she'll be done by then, but if I have to I may just put the anchor system back on and patch up a few places to make her a bit more riverworthy. But if all else, could toss my steelheader into the camper and go.
Haha, I know it Jerry. I wouldnt bring any gear fishing stuff, it would kinda kill the point of being up there with you guys. I am very aware of the upper river regs however is it really bait-legal only below 101, I thought it was just Oxbow down???
So, did you guy nail down dates? Be nice to meet some of you if I'm there when you are.
There ya go adam
Jake, I do believe the regs say "Below Highway 101". So you can't legal fish bait/scent until you cross under that bridge. I will have gear rods with me, but they'll be setup with jigs only. No baits or scents with me on this one.
Jerry, if you go, are you getting a room or camping?
