I am having trouble using web wing. Well actually not using it but having it stand up to trout abuse. I bought the stuff because of an article in Flyfisherman about the web wing caddis. It does definitely make a beautiful fly but the wing (for me) disintegrates after a couple of fish. The article said that Barr chose this material for its toughness. What am I doing wrong? I have cut it with scissors, a roller cutter and exacto knives and still get the same result. Help!

I've never used that stuff, but I'd either give it a shot of krylon, or just some flexament. Put a drop of flexament on with a bodkin, then run the wing thru your fingers to spread it and make sure you have as little on there as possible... Next time you're at the craft store or fabric store get some Organza. hit it with krylon, and then cut out your wings:thumb:

I use web wing and love it.I cut it with a Riverroad wing cutter, and coat it with flexament.I seems to hold up fine for me.

You can use a wing burner, keeps it from unraveling

    That's what I do.

My web-wing would unravel each time after catching two fish. Burnt the edges and problem solved.
