I thought that I would put in in the main forum so that way more people can give me a bad time. I took more pictures of it so you can tell what it is and not a hatchery pond. I fished it for about 5 minutes and got another Brookie out of it. Bigger this time. There is one in there that is about 18" long. Got the one today with a Green Stimulator.
ehhh, im alive. Sadley, not much fishing... A trip to a creek near my house and once up to Goose Lake and that has been it. Dealing with house crap, and life crap.... But hey, I wanted to grow up, get a house, all that fun stuff... What was I thinking... I want to go back to high school...
Wait until your as old as I am. With this hot weather we are having. It is playing hell with my energy. It's been in the high 80's and low 90's for almost two months. We got a couple of days in the mid 70's, but that was that. I get out when I want to, but not getting around in this heat is the shits. Tomorrow, I'm going into the hills for some Brookies and fast driving the ATV. That's about the only way to cool off.
Looks like good water to me. I used to fish the COI (Central Oregon Irrigation) ditch in Bend, Or. Always caught some nice browns and RB's right behind Ugly's gas station.
Most irrigation ditch's here in Montana are open. And some that have flowing water in them year around have some nice fish in them. Birch Creek flows into this pond. In the winter time they close those gates down and open the creek back up. But I usually wonder if the closing down of this creek has the OK of the MFWP. I might just ask them. I mean the creek is without water for about 5 miles.
I went out today, but not to the cement pond. Was going to go someplace new, but the road has a spring on it and it was fucked up. Even the road grader was bogged down. So I turned around and went to the upper Ruby. Up by the Beaver ponds. First fish on a Black Stimulator was a Grayling. About 8". Then I lost that fly on the other side of the river. Put on a red orange Stimulator. Caught about 10 Cutts on that fly and several more of the same kind of fly. Put a few in the bushes on the other side. Fish were like Cookie Cutter size. All about 9". But these are fun on a 3wt. You would get one hit or a fish in each section of the Beaver pond. Then you had to move down river. I did get to see these. Only fished for about an hour as it was hotter than hell and the heat takes it's toll on me.
I catch them all the time up where I go. But these are silver in appearance. The first one that I got was the Gray color. But the rest have been silver. Some call them Silver Trout.
that is "not" a pond, it appears to have moving water, Jim. A pond is stillwater. Atleast I thought it was. Maybe it is not. Perhaps a hatchery stream?
I call it that. I was in the Fly tying section and they called it a hatchery pond. I've been getting some nice EBT out of it. The water is crystal clear and about three feet deep. Some of the bottom is sand and some is gravel. It has a fence around three sides to keep stupid people from falling in. So I just cast from the fenced side.
Good grief Jim, you bitch about the cold in winter and that you can't wait for summer. Now it's summer and your complaining about the heat. I think San Diego is the place for you, not Dillon...just sayin. Please go explore the area up behind my place on your ATV and mark-up a MT gazetteer for me with all the skookum info on great looking waters.
There is nothing beyond your place except woods and bears. In the summer time that little creek is almost nothing. There are fish in it but nothing over 4". I'm not going to waste my time there. About the heat here. It's damn hot. And for some reason, I'm having a hell of a time getting around in it. Must be something to do with age.
Great stories & pics, Jim. I've fished that "Ceement Pond" in years passed (took my Nephew's Kids down there). I was disappointed that I didn't see Ellie May there, however . . .
