I would like to get a 6 wt spey rod for summer steelhead. I don't want to spend a arm and a leg for it so what is a good all around 6 wt spey rod for say under 350 bucks??

TFO Deer Creek or Echo Dec Hogan.

Budget priced? Hard to beat the Rainshadow Forecast 11 1/2' 6/7 in a kit and build it yourself for about $100. Great summer run and small stream rod.

Echo TR 6wt would be my choice over the DH becuase it is a little faster and throws a compact scandi a country mile with a skater and throws small tips on a compact skagit very well as well....It is what I use for summer runs and also have been useing the 5 wt TR and It is awesome as well....probably my favorite skating rod.

I agree with Matney that the Echo TR would be a lot better with a scandi than the Echo DH. I had the 6126 DH and I only liked the Delta 6/7 on it...I tried a few different scandi lines and just couldn't dial it in for my stroke...but I like faster actioned rods. Seeing how you're in Camas I would stick to the Echo rods over TFO because they're located just just down the road so warranties would be probably be simple...just drive over there and swap it out...plus you're supporting local business. You should try calling Echo or a local shop and go test cast both rods and figure what works for you and what ever line set up you decide on.

Both Echo and TFO are good rods in that price range. Find a shop that will let you try before you buy. Warranty service is also very good for TFO.

as of right now all i own are 6wt rods. my two favorites that i own are both of my echos. i own both the original echo rod(that's been discontinued) and the echo carbon. the carbon is a 9' fast action so if you prefer a med fast i would suggest the ion which is a 10' rod. no i don't work for the company or have any affiliation with them i just like the quality of the rod for the price.

You might be able to find an Echo 2 6wt somewhere--great Scandi rods at a great price. Plus 2 tip sections! I have an 8wt and love it.
