What is the smallest size fly YOU swing for steelhead.

    Thanks Jim and Fred , glad you guys like . I really think the tiny mixed wings have a time and place to be swung . I find in late winter , around the end of Feb. before run-off , when the water is cold and gin clear these "tinys" work the best . Then once again in late fall , end of Oct. in my neck of the woods , just before the rains come and bring in the "B" runs , the "A" run steelhead are fairly wary and are use to picking up salmon eggs and nymphs floating out of the redds .
