After doing a search on this site with no sucess, I figured I would ask here. I am wondering what the correct size reel would be for a 5/6 or 6/7 switch rod? I am looking to use this rod with a compact head like an AFS, or perhaps with an intermediate shooting head in the salt as well. It will primarily be a light steelhead and beack rod. This questions comes at a time when I am looking to replace the reel on my 6 wt. I was hoping to get a 6-7 wt reel and using it on a 9' 6wt and a light switch rod. Is this possible? Or am I dreamin

:beathead: Joes got too much money. I have the 6/7 Beulah Switch. It's way better than the Winston(Kraig). anyway, I have the Ross Rhythm 3.5 on it and It balances pretty well. Holds the Elixer and plenty o backing. The Rhythm is priced nicely and has a smooth startup on the drag.

jesse only buys ross reels, because he is scared to experiment! kraigs rod would be better if he could find a river big enough to cast it properly.

Lamson Konic 3.5 would fit that nicely. And it is under $150. Or you could step it up and get a Hardy...or the loop classic would look good too.

Check out the 1600 and 1800 Sage series reels, nice reels for the price.

Joe's the only guy I know with a Zaxis spey for each hand in consecutive line weights. Baller status. I hear Abel makes a Super Seven that is moderately priced. It looks like a fish.
