I just picked up a second spool for my Waterworks ULA 3.3 reel, it is the older version without the porting. I plan to use one spool for fresh and one spool for salt. I haven't done much salt fishing and I was wondering if the ported vs non-ported would be better for salt water fishing.

The pro I see for the non-ported in salt would be less places for salt to build up.

The pro I see for the ported in salt would be the porting would offer better ventilation/drainage and might rinse better in fresh water.

Just wondering if one pro is better than the other, or if I'm missing something else, or am I to worried about salt?

By ported do you mean drilled/vented? If so, I would go with the ported. Anything to help rinse out the salt and air it out I feel would be better...
