what you have after cleaning?

    I know you get what you get.........but after you've caught a 100 lb. halibut and you know what your doing what percentage is useable meat?......thanks from the illiterate.

    Alot theres not much waste in a halibut. lots of meat!!!

    I believe that the rule of thumb for hailbut is about 50% - of course that depends in part on the skill of the one wielding the knife.

    Kept six twenty pounders from Alaska last June. In my family of five we've eaten it about once a week or so. Just two weeks ago finished it off. I didn't quite answer your question, but I hope that helps in some way.
