Got into a weird situation a couple weeks ago where an oar suddenly came loose from the internal carbon housing. I sure wish I had some super glue, but a buddy's first aid tape roll did the trick.

Just curious what you pack in your emergency bag for inflatable trips? What's the best quick patch on the river? Most of the patches I'm seeing take 24 hours to set?

TearAid instant patches. One type for PVC and another for urethane.

Zip ties, straps, frame pins, repair kit, pump, knife, rope, duct/electrical tape screw driver, pliers/multi-tool and probably some other things that I can't think of now.

Gorilla Tape tough and wide. Sticks to just about anything and no waiting for it to set.

its better than duct tape, and duct tape can fix anything.

Duct tape. And Tear Aid. Scotch. That Gorilla tape sounds like a good idea too. I might throw some zip ties in too.

My kit usually has Gorilla Tape and some hemp rope. A lighter. A stick of underwater-cure epoxy.

Good idea to carry an extra oarlock too. Once I hit a rock so hard with my oar that it snapped (or bent) the pin and the brass oarlock shot out of the frame and fell into the water as I was still holding the oar. That turned into a nice cluster. I was able to wedge the oar into a gap in the frame and continue to row effectively enough to get my ass out of danger. I've carried a spare lock and pins ever since.

I live in California, so I just carry duct tape and a cellphone with my attorneys number on speed dial because it wouldn't be my fault;-)

Ya I was with him on a cold Feb. day on the Sandy when he took a swim. We were still 3 to 4 hours away from the takeout. He had brought along a complete change of dry clothing for under his waders. From that day on when I float I do the same.

My Sig. Seriously, I'm not floating something that would require anything like a "wilderness" rescue, so I've got patch stuff, spare oarlock, first aid, and that's about it.

Get me out in the forest though, and that's a completely different story. There, I've got my hunting knife, sharpener, rain shell, firestarting materials, emergency food, water, small 1st aid stuff, whistle, 550 cord, multi-tool, and a hunter's axe. There's nothing I can't make with that stuff.

Patch kit and pump, if in the 'toon.
    Two different multi-tools.
Extra anchor rope, and another good piece of rope.

    Super Glue.
    Toilet paper.
    Cable saw.
    Flashlight.
    Med kit full of stuff.
    Pliers.
    Firestarter.
Life jackets and whistles for all passengers
    extra rope
water and food for the day
    matches in water proof sack
    flashlights
    tarp
    sterno
    mirror

Great to see you guys are prepared. Nothing's worse than being cold, wet, and unprepared...
