The wife and I made it to Yellowstone on June 3rd. Only got to fish a couple hours the 4 days we were there. Fished the Madison just downstream of Madison Campground, caught 2 rainbows, 14 & 18 on a yellow stonefly.

All the rivers in the park were completely blown out. The fish are hiding under the grassy banks, I actually had to walk downstream to cast back up and only about 18" out from the bank.

Talked to several others and only heard of a few other fish being caught.

Snow storms kind of put a hault to everything as only two roads were open in the park.

All in all it was a good trip despite the lack of fishing.

    Jason,

Did you check out the Firehole? I fished it over Memorial Day weekend- an annual trip. Two years ago when runoff was high and muddy, as with this year, the Firehole wasn't blown out. A little higher than normal, and maybe a bit dark but still fished great through the Midway Geyser Basin area.

Interesting place when it comes to weather, for sure. Sun one minute, sideways snow the next. And everything in between.

    Cheers.
