Just joined the board a few weeks ago as I'm getting back into fly fishing after many years off. Anyway I'm headed to Dayton this weekend to scout for a deer tag I drew and decided to throw my pole in as well to see if I could get a little fishing in while I'm down there, is the tucannon or touchet my better bet for catching some trout, not worried about size. I saw that you grew up in Dayton.

Sorry for the slow response -- I've been rafting the Middle Fork Salmon and catching cutthroats on 90 miles of wild river. :)

Anyway, Touchet and Tucannon both fish well, with smallish rainbows (6 to 10 inches) common though you might some some bigger fish in the deeper holes, as well as a few bull trout. Touchet has great river access right in town. Drop in behind the school or near the Golf Course.

    HI Dan,

You and I live in the same town. I am on Shaw on the north end of South Hill.

My 14 yr old non fly fisher son and 17 year old former neighbor boy (who learned to fly fish on my drift boat on the Yak) are going tent camping with me at Kelly Creek.

I want to make this a fun trip for them and would appreciate any advice you can give. Could we meet for coffee? I'll buy you a latte.

Thanks. That was mine. Truly an oddity, I think, to get my first 2 steelhead of my life in 30 minutes of fishing and the next 2 on dries

That's mine. It's been a long time since I wrote (or read) that. Brought back good memories. Thanks!
