Eric. I'm new to the flathead area and would be very interested in hearing about the Pike. I've never fished them before. I've been spending some time exploring and the Swan was my latest venture. Some of the area on the lower Swan from Ferndale down to before the wild mile looks pretty pikeish to me. Any info would be appreciated.

I tried so hard with flies last October but the water was a bit cold I think, so I could only get them on the gear when we were locating fish. Now would be good though I think, maybe some big and ugly, or try some poppers. (esp. since it has been hot out there too).

There is another sweet section way up river about 4 or 5 miles where some power lines cross the river, but it takes a long time to get there. If you use your pontoon and float down, it might work, but it might take all day:).
I wish I knew a few other places to access the river, but I haven't lived out there since 96. I look forward to hearing how you do, maybe if I get out there this fall I can give you a call.

Some guys do go downstream from the boat launch which might be worth a shot, but I know it does get more pressure just b/c of the easy access. Hope this helps. Sorry so long.... rambling on.
