My granger 9050 has some small chips in the varnish which I want to touch up with a toothpick. What varnish should I use?

Was out casting your 8'6" Phillipson with a friend and he liked it so much that he traded a Hardy reel to me for the rod.

Am buying a Granger 8642 from Scott Whitman to go with my Granger 9050. Had the Granger 9050 out today on Riley Lake catching trout and bass.

    - Early 8642 Goodwin Granger Denver Special mid to late 1920s. Restored by Scott W. Beautiful casting 5 wt.
    - WM 8642 Favorite. Original good condition. Smooth 6wt. Considering putting up for sale to fund a new lens purchase.
    - Phillipson Dry Fly Special 8-1/2' 6 wt which I lightly refinished. I think you may have casted this one. Definitely for sale to pay for the Heddon 60 restoration with Scott W.

Have a business trip scheduled to Denver and I'm going to stop by Ricks Rods June 9 to check out the Phillipsons. How much do you want for your Dry Fly Special and your WM 8642? Are they both two tips?

Hi Dave. I'll offer the Dry Fly Special for $325 and the Granger Favorite for $600. Both are original full length with both tips. The DFS had it's cork replaced and a few wraps redone which look the same as the originals. It had a small amount of set on a tip which I straightened and which could possibly return with fishing. The Granger is excellent original.

I wanted this back issue as I was trying to locate a better copy if this issue. In this issue, was an article about a true Western fly fishing legend, Mr. Del Canty of Colorado.
One INCREDIBLE man and unreal fly designer and world-class angler. Very glad to locate such a hard to find issue!
