I'm out the door in an hour from now....two weeks vacation.
I'm not sure who useful this is.
But I mention it anyway (because you expressed interest in shock tippet streamers,
and the fly thing lathe).
I like to make extended body mayflies. They don't catch fish any better.
I'm not delusional about that. But I still like to tie them.
One thing lead to another. I have some acupuncture needles.
You can put an open loop into one of those, and make a minit-lathe
for tying extended bodies, that works the same way as the bigger Fleech one.
Pretty nifty stuff. You can make micro bodies on an acupuncture needle,
wrapped around fibetts, for instance, and then slide them off and use them.
I put a micro-dot of Tear Mender at each end of the body, to keep it from
unraveling. Works. Works well.
You can make entire flies this way....and attach a hook as an afterthought.
