Hi all,
I just got my hands on a nice used Scott L2H 11.5' 7wt switch rod and to compliment it an Orvis Battenkill Disc-Drag V (made for lines 9-11)... nice reels aside from being made in china.
I was thinking about getting the "Royal Wulff" 'Ambush' series line as I want to use the setup for tossing some meat out for the bass/pike, etc. around here as well as use it for our Spring & Fall-Winter Steelhead runs. I usually toss normal spey type/ spider flies & large nymphs for steelhead depending on the weather & water. I was just wondering if anyone has used the "Ambush" lines for switch rods before & what they thought of them for a sort of 'all-around' switch line? Anyone heard anything good or bad about them? I'm a newb when it comes' to switch rods & spey casting so any help or guidance will be much appreciated.
FWIW I'm on a pretty tight budget after getting the rod & reel, (thank you ebay), so jst getting a spare spool for my reel to accommodate a separate line is really not feasible for me at the moment nor forseeable future as I still have yet to get the line replace my waders first.
Thanks all for your help & guidance,
Nick.
